2000s UK - Contract cleaner

Contract cleaners can be drafted to any sort of cleaning job their employers dictate, although for the most part operatives are deployed on a regular contract e.g. a school or an office. However others can be sent to 'one off' jobs like cleaning up after a fire or a flood, where Hygene inspectors have closed a restaurant kitchen until it has been properly cleaned, or cleaning the toilets at a showground before, during and after an event.

The 2009-2014 Outlook for Contract Cleaning Services in India

This econometric study covers the latent demand outlook for contract cleaning services across the states, union territories and cities of India. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across over 5,000 cities in India. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of it's state or union territory and of India as a whole is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-a-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each state or union territory and city, latent demand estimates are created for contract cleaning services. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the cities in India). This study gives, however, my estimates for the latent demand, or the P.I.E., for contract cleaning services in India. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided and concentrated across the cities and regional markets of India. For each state or union territory, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time. In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on strategic planning at graduate schools of business.

Tech Talk
The HDCD (High Density Compatible Digital) audio CD format is encoded with 20 bits of information instead of the 16 bits found on standard CDs. A player or receiver with an HDCD decoder chip is required to achieve the true sound of an HDCD disc, but it can be played on a standard CD or DVD player (minus the enhancement). Additionally, because an HDCD decoder chip includes a high-precision digital filter, HDCD-equipped players help to improve audio quality for even traditionally recorded CDs and DVDs.

In this wild comedy adventure, rail passenger George Caldwell (Gene Wilder) finds that a romantic escapade with a sultry secretary (Jill Clayburgh) puts him in the middle of a Hitchcockian murder plot. Leaping on and off the train, in and out of roomettes

Despite the presence of hack director Arthur Hiller, this hybrid comedy-thriller works most of the time as pleasant faux Hitchcock. Gene Wilder is a book editor who is relaxing by taking a cross-country train ride. Then he gets caught up in a murder--and becomes a suspect. It's up to him to prove his own innocence. As noted, the script, by Colin Higgins, owes a big debt to Alfred Hitchcock; but the mystery isn't all that mysterious and the comedy isn't all that hilarious--at least not until Richard Pryor shows up, which is at least halfway through the film. Things definitely pick up from there. Jill Clayburgh, as the love interest, is merely along for the train ride. Wilder and Pryor eventually teamed up for several other films, but they were never as funny together as they are in this one. --Marshall Fine

Rebirth

Rebirth

[2:47] Alric Bravin: Alric Bravin doesn't feel the crimson liquid flow down his throat, at least, not at first. Slowly, his eyes refocus as consciousness stirs his body. A look of pure torture twists onto his face as in that mind's eye, Lilli is ripped from him. His mouth opens slighty to protest, but no sound comes out. Then the pain hits, an intense, burning pain, as though someone had set each and every nerve ending ablaze. His back arches against the misery, an inhuman scream tearing from his throat. His fingers rake at the ground, the nails scraping at the tile and leaving bloody streaks behind. "NOOOO!" His entire body convulses in the grip of that fiery pain. Let me die! he wants to cry out, his tongue can't form the words. Why aren't I dead? His eyes fly open wide as his boots push against the floor, though they don't propel him anywhere, thanks to the slick mess of blood and water underneath them. Those wide eyes latch onto the cut in Triana's arm, which was still oozing blood like a fountain. Something urges him forward a voice telling him to drink, and the fire would go away. He grabs her wrist and brings it to his lips, drinking deeply.

[2:53] Triana Mills watches in solemn silence as his body begins to convulse, this undead disease spreading like a grass fire through his being. She closes her eyes for a moment as she screams into the mostly empty bar, a pain of her own erupted in her chest. Her eyes snap back open when he latches onto her wrist and begins to drink deeply, her heard inclining slightly as she watches him. She would have to pull away before he drained her dry. Not only would she be dead, but there would be reprecussions. It was likely that there would already be reprecussions should the Breed learn of her Embracing a Childe without their fucking consent.

[2:56] Katherine Vanmoer watched in terror as Alric's eyes reopened. Her heart stopped momentarily as she was starting to grasp what had just happened. As she was about to open her mouth to as if she should get some damp towels or something to clean him with, Alric lurched forward, grasping the wounded arm in his mouth, suckling at it like a newborn babe. Katherine bit her lip as a new sense of being utterly useless washed over her along with something entirely foreign to her: nausea. Kat placed her hands tightly to her mouth as she snak back to her knees, weaked by the sight before her. So much thick, dark red blood poured from the wound and was now trickling out the corners of Alric's mouth. katherine closed her eyes, feeling ehr world spin about her.

[3:04] Alric Bravin lets out a small moan as he drinks. The voice - the instinct, or whathaveyou - was right. The fire started to subside, quenched by the red liquid. He makes a face as a new sensation hits his brain - fangs. He pauses momentarily to run his tongue carefully over the razor sharp points. What the fuck was this? the rational part of his brain things as it stirs from its brief, but deep slumber. He fire threatens to consume him again, and he resumes his sucking at her wrist. Slowly, things were coming back to him. He was attached to someone's wrist. He was drinking - what?

[3:07] Triana Mills lets out a groan of her own as she feels him start to drain a bit too much. Her nostrils flared as she looked down at him, taking in a deep breath. "Alric...that's enough." Starting to unecessarily hyperventilate, she growls, ripping her wrist away from him before pulling to her chest to cradle it. Glancing down at it, she runs her tongue over it to close the wound before letting it come to rest in her lap. Staring down at him, she waist to see if the man would calm down or begin to frenzy. If he frenzied, she would have to get Katherine out of the building and take care of the situation alone.

[3:13] Katherine Vanmoer grabbed at her stomach, now on all fours, her eyes went wide and she realized she was staring at a pool of her own bile. Again the convultions came and she lurched forward, more bile coming up before she could move her hand from her stomach to her mouth to try to stop the onslaught of burning, purtid liquid from emerging.

[3:19] Alric Bravin releases her wrist and lays back against the bloody floor the old pains of his scratches and broken ribs returning to him. His chest heaves up and down, but he feels nothing inside - no sweet rush of air into his lungs, or burning sensation as the air circulates his oxygen starved body. "Wha- What happened to me?" he rasps, his eyes falling on Triana. The retching woman hadn't even registered on his radar yet, for his newly returned rational side could only handle on thing at a time. "What have you done to me?"

[3:23] Triana Mills frowns, scooting back away from him slowly. She didn't want this to turn out this way. Shakily, she stands, feeling slightly light headed from the loss of blood. "...you died, Alric..." She bites down on her lip, reaching up to

Foreclosed: High-Risk Lending, Deregulation, and the Undermining of America's Mortgage Market

Foreclosed: High-Risk Lending, Deregulation, and the Undermining of America's Mortgage Market

Over the last two years, the United States has observed, with some horror, the explosion and collapse of entire segments of the housing market, especially those driven by subprime and alternative or "exotic" home mortgage lending. The unfortunately timely Foreclosed explains the rise of high-risk lending and why these newer types of loans-and their associated regulatory infrastructure-failed in substantial ways. Dan Immergluck narrates the boom in subprime and exotic loans, recounting how financial innovations and deregulation facilitated excessive risk-taking, and how these loans have harmed different populations and communities.
Immergluck, who has been working, researching, and writing on issues tied to housing finance and neighborhood change for almost twenty years, has an intimate knowledge of the promotion of homeownership and the history of mortgages in the United States. The changes to the mortgage market over the past fifteen years-including the securitization of mortgages and the failure of regulators to maintain control over a much riskier array of mortgage products led, he finds, inexorably to the current crisis.
After describing the development of generally stable and risk-limiting mortgage markets throughout much of the twentieth century, Foreclosed details how federal policy-makers failed to regulate the new high-risk lending markets that arose in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The book also examines federal, state, and local efforts to deal with the mortgage and foreclosure crisis of 2007 and 2008. Immergluck draws upon his wealth of experience to provide an overarching set of principles and a detailed set of policy recommendations for "righting the ship" of U.S. housing finance in ways that will promote affordable yet sustainable homeownership as an option for a broad set of households and communities.

Sugar Ray: Update

Sugar Ray: Update

This photo was taken the day after I rescued him. He was abandoned by a neighbor who's home was foreclosed on...just left him there.

He is about 5 (so says the Vet). He has never been properly groomed. I spent our first night together cutting dreadlocks out of his ears. He had never had his ear-hair (or anything) properly trimmed. They never even cleaned the sleep out off his eyes. When I tried to clean them myself, he started to bleed. The vet said it was okay, but she wanted to 'surgically remove' the rest of the sleep from his eyes. I have never heard of that. It made me so sad, mad, but mostly sad. You could imagine everything else that had been neglected on this guy....

The reason I have not been taking (or posting) pictures of him like everyone asked me too since I got him is because I knew this time would come, and I would be sad, like I am. I am broken up about what I did, but I had no choice. I always knew I could not keep a third dog. I am so sorry Sugar Ray!

I did find a shelter that promised with his disposition, health and demeanor he would be adopted quickly. I brought him home from the vet and he spent one more week with me and my girls and literally he thought he was in heaven. After the new year I took him in for adoption. They called me the last week to tell me he was only up for adoption for about 6 hours. It took them a few days to do all their stuff with him, but as soon as he went up for adoption, he got lucky. He is with a family I am told with two young children. He will be an only-dog, so he is going to get all the attention. Believe me, he knows how to work it.

I have many photos of our short time together, its just a bit painful right now... maybe soon I will post more.

For everybody who asked, who cared and who sent me comments and messages about this little guy, I just wanted you to know that he is now okay, and being loved. My girls have been broken up and still look for him every morning when they first go outside. They go right to the spot where they used to smell each other through the fence. They are getting used to him not being here, as am I. Its down to just the mayhem only my two dogs can provide, but we'll adapt. The bigger thing is that this little creature who was abandoned the day before Christmas (actually a week before that, I only found him the day before Christmas) is now healthy, happy warm and safe with his new Forever Family.

Bye bye Sugar Ray!
Happy Life to you lil guy!

Dan Immergluck narrates the boom in subprime and exotic loans, recounting how financial innovations and deregulation facilitated excessive risk-taking, and how these loans have harmed different populations and communities.Immergluck, who has been working, researching, and writing on issues tied to housing finance and neighborhood change for almost twenty years, has an intimate knowledge of the promotion of homeownership and the history of mortgages in the United States. The changes to the mortgage market over the past fifteen years—including the securitization of mortgages and the failure of regulators to maintain control over a much riskier array of mortgage products—led, he finds, inexorably to the current crisis. The 2011 paperback edition features a new preface by the author addressing the ongoing global economic crisis and the impact of U.S. financial reform efforts on the mortgage system.
